I've owned a G90 for 8+ years. It's been a very dependable unit, despite its current issue. About a year ago, I noticed after turning it on a orange code 59 displayed. After turning off and on again, the code disappeared and the projector worked fine. As time progressed the problem has worsened, and now it usually takes 3 or 4 attempts to turn the projector on.

I found a list of code from the sony service manual, however 59 is not listed.

Any G90 gurus know what a error code 59 means and how I might fix it??

Thank you,

Rickyn

It is definitively code 59. I double checked... and on the power up cycle the display flashes 88 red then orange (or vice versa). I replaced the dallas chip a few years back. It's good, I'm pretty sure...

thanks for the reply.

Does the LED display flip according to the setup of the projector. In other words, could this be code 65 instead? My projector is a ceiling mounted unit.

Flip both sets of polarity switches back and forth several times and see if that fixes the issue.

Craig,

You were right on target with the polarity switches. I did as you suggested switching the polarity switches back in forth. That didn't correct the problem, however it did lead me to the solution. I noticed the door cover is made of thin plastic and was slightly warped. By stretching the micro switch level for the door I think it solved my problem. A couple more power cycles will verify the fix. Right now, I'm enjoying my theater again. ;^)

Thank you very much!!

Yeah, no problem. The error is most usually caused be the door not being closed all the way and the safety switch not betting pushed in all the way. The error can also often be caused by one of the polarity switches loosing contact so that one tube does not have deflection. Either way, I figured that opening the door and flipping all the switches would sort you out Smile

If that hadn't worked I would have next suggested bypassing the safety switch on the door.
