Hi everyone...

i connected the BG800: MacBook Pro Mini DisplayPort->HDMI HDFury3 (set to negative sync)->VGA to 5 BNC into the BG 800 (port5) but i can't get a picture. Sad

First i thougt my RGB input board was dead, but i got a second BG 800 an swapped the board... same problem...

I get a picture from my DVD player using the "Video Input"

I use SwitchresX to use custom resolutions, but i cant get it to work.

Somebody got an idea?

I noticed that both of my RGB Input boards (761748) have 5 little switches marked with : blue, red, green,H,V
What can i do with these switches?

thanks for your help in advance...
Jonathan

THE best thing to try first is a plain HD box, cable or satellite. See if that works. Don't touch those switches, they are termination resistors, and the pix will look weird with them turned off.

Do you have the power supply for the Fury? Does it glow blue?

I guess the only other thing is, are the H and V cables connected to the right inputs? There's no real color code for those two. You could also try sending it a component signal via the Fury, and select input 3 or 4. You should get a green image when you feed a component signal into the RGB input.

Is the display port cable an Apple product or an aftermarket like Dynex? I've heard the aftermarket cables refuse to work with the HDFurys.

Port 4 is RGBs, port 5 is RGBHV. Why not leave it set as port 4 then?

port 4 is only working when i feed a component signal to it... little bit green for my taste Smile

how can i connect the rgb signal to port 4?? is it ok just to combine H and V sync with a T-adaptor?

Try doing that. It still seems like the FUry may be putting out positive sync. Your other option is to get an Extron 203 or 202xi box that will act as a sync inverter. It works on every signal I send to it, and I've had lots of Barcos on the bench that I feed many signals to. My 202 box is on 24/7, and I run everything through it. (my bench scaler puts out positive sync, so it would never work on the Barcos)

THis is what you want:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extron-RGB-202xi-MBC-RGB-Buffer-w-cables-/360182886730?pt=US_Projector_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53dc92b14a

This one is a bit overpriced, but it does appear to have the VGA to custom 9 pin Extron input cable. Without it, you need to make one up yourself, which is a pain.

Troll eBay if you can wait a bit, you should pay no more than $50 for a 202xi with the input cable.

Better yet, bid on this. THe 203 is newer than the 202, and has a standard VGA input instead of that stupid 9 pin custom Extron input:

thx curt Thumbs Up

ok.. this would be the solution... but i wonder why RGBHV is not working at all...

could i be cable length or quality? i've got a 3m VGA to 5 BNC cable (a cheap one). Or should the cable be ok, since it is working with component on port 4?

The HD fury 3 should support cable length up to 40-50 feet according to specs.

Hi,

I'd recheck the HDFury's dip switch settings first. The HDFury 3 can output sync with negative polarity perfectly (I've been using it like this when I still had my BG801s), it's just that the dip switch logic is somewhat awkward:
If I remember correctly, You have to select "force positive sync" and "sync inversion" to get the right signal...

Hi,

Maybe the 800 model is a little bit too old and unreliable (due to its age) for Your purposes. I still have two working Barco Graphics 801s (both have good tubes without significant wear) sitting in my basement and collecting dust. If You're living not too far away You can have one of them for free as long as You come over and pick it up. If Your're interested You can answer via PM...

I just measured the VGA to 5BNC cable... one of the sync lines is not connected to the D-sub connector.
I think thats why it worked with sync to green but not via RGBHV... was a brand new cable... Neutral

now im on my way to get an new VGA to 5 BNC... hope it will work then...
