Hi all,

First post to this forum, and I have a question I am hoping someone can help me answer.

About 12 years ago, I had a Marquee 9000 installed in my basement media room, and for the first 8 years, it was serviced regularly by the person who installed it. That person is no longer reachable/working on projectors, and I am in need of some assistance =)

We rented out our basement over the last 4 years, and the projector has been idle (off) for that period of time.

I just got back to firing it up, and when I do, I am noticing the slightest movement of the picture back and forth (left and right) during operation. It is noticeable, but very slight movement.

The projector is mounted on a bracket which is mounted to the frame of the media room, and all the service that has been done on it was performed while it was on the mount (not been removed since installation).

Does anyone have any thoughts as to the reason(s) the picture is shifting back and forth during operation? Any suggestions as to what to look for?

The tubes have only 2100 hours on them total (750 on/1200+ in standby) in operation since the tubes were replaced.

I have been looking for a local resource to help, but the only person I found on the site is also no longer working on projectors =(

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

Try to reseat all boards and connectors in their sockets, you should do this with all ICs that are in sockets too.

Thanks for the quick response. I am just getting into maintenance of CRT projectors, so I am very new to all of this. I do have a good bit of exposure to PC building and maintenance, which I hope will serve me well when trying to perform maintenance on my projector.

I assume I can access/reseat the boards without having to remove the projector from the ceiling mount? Also, you mention "ICs". Can you tell me what that is an acronym for?

I am pretty sure the Marquee 9000 manual I recently downloaded from this site will show me how to access the components, and will have a look at it later today.

Typically CRTs are made to be worked on upside down like on a ceiling and rishtside up like on a desktop.

Hey Charles, welcome! A couple of things:

-post your location, so someone here might be of assistance close to you if need be.

-the 9000 is now a REALLY old machine. Since you have low hours on the tubes, it might be an idea if you're so inclined to buy a later and more reliable model 8500, and transfer your tubes over. Simple to do, and you end up with a better chassis. Keep an eye out on CL and ebay for one close to you. Guessing $250 tops. It might need a bit of maintenance, but you're overdue anyway. Bleed your tubes as well, I'm sure they are pressurized at this point.
