Hi people Smile

Does anyone know if the Panasonic TC-51P250-H rear projection CRT television will display and unmodified 50Hz and 60Hz image??

I want to use it to play video games and i dont want the 100Hz upscale, i have an LG here that you cant turn that off.

Thanks Smile

Here is the service manual: http://elektrotanya.com/panasonic_tx-43p250_tc-43p250_tx-51p250_tc-51p250_chassis_euro-7vp.pdf/download.html

Ive had a bit of a look in there, can someone with more knowledge have a look and see if there would be a way to get RGB into the set somehow?

I see it has an RGB processor on the A-board ( page 61 in the service manual ) looks to me like component video goes in one side, and RGB comes out the other, but also has the RGB lines coming in from the U board ( same page ) where it seems to refer to the OSD outputs.

If i was to connect a source to those OSD outputs ( page 81, IC1101 ) pins 112, 113, and 114 for RGB, and 102, 103 for H and V sync, would this theoretically work as a direct RGB input or would there be a better place to connect these?

I got another one instead, same model but a TX instead of a TC, has TELETEXT fitted is the difference.

Would still like to put an RGB input on this thing if someone can help Wink

320x240p is the resolution out of most of these items, a couple of them are 480i

When the set applies the conversions it decreases the image quality in a big way for retro gaming, and in alot of cases makes the picture judder abit.

If i could turn it off completely id be happy, but doesnt look like it can be done, which is why im hoping to be able to bypass it Wink

Getting the proper sync to the proper circuitry is the bigger problem. How do you propose that?

Not too sure, i did see a H V input somewhere on one of those chips, but not sure if it was going in the direction i need. i have a device here that converts composite sync and composite video to seperate H V sync so itll work on my PG and XG.

The sync part of it was my main concern too. If it was a straight out 15kHz set with no fang dang sh*t, id just use composite video as sync and blank it with the OSD blanking, so only the RGB from the OSD input would be displayed. Thats been done before and works well.

More then likely (but I did not verify) the deflection circuitry is designed for 1 particular resolution. It is probably not multi sync. You would then need to find out what this non scaled resolution is and that would be the only resolution you could use if you want to bypass the scaler chip....

Oh ok, it displays a couple different resolutions, and will even display 1920x1080i if you turn it on in the service menu

Id say youre correct there Mac, i cant seem to get anything else on the screen apart from 576i 100Hz, or 576p 50Hz.... Also does 480i and 480p at 60 and 120Hz...

What i really need is 240p at 60Hz...
