So i got a BG808 with 10/9/10 RGB tubes last weekend, the plan was to put these boards in my Cine 8.

However i did like the color from the BG808 more then the Cine 8 so i decided to swap boards so i did not have to bother with swapping all the metal and tubes.

I swapped all boards except

RGB switcher board + Quad decoder board, i took those from a BD808s (the cine 8 boards had limopro installed which i did not need)

SMPS + G2 boards (since everything was already configured on these + i'd have to adjust the filament voltage should i use my Cine 8 SMPS) Curt already confirmed that these are fine as they are.

Also using the Cine 8 convergence tray, controller board, IR leds and PFC input board.
Using the BG808 quad + EHT + splitter and everything seems to work flaweless.
Is there anything i should pay attention to? I noticed the BD808s has different Hscan limits (15-69 - cine 8 15-110). Which boards limits this? Should i put the cinec8 switcher and decoder boards inside.

.... your BG808 now is ........... a BG808!!!! Confused Neutral

Honestly, I did not understand exactly what you did and why Shocked

Ok ... many boards of cine8 can be swapped BUT not all!

Also the controller .... but ... NO ..... NO .... NO eprom with firmware.

The firmware of BG808 is different than Cine8 because the hardware is different.

1) I prefer the dark finish of the BG808 (together with black painted plastics)
2) saved me from getting the projector down - swapping the tubes and then fitting everything inside the Cine8. ( i got it up immediately once i got the BG808, with the holidays it's hard to get 2 ppl to help me!)

I have no issues with the controller board, i swapped the entire controller board + Iris controller (the controller boards freaked out after pressing one of the function keys without this board).

It now identifies itself as a cine 8 - all functions work flaweless.

Parts left from the BG808

EHT + Quad + splitter - i doubt these influence anything.

SMPS + G2 - Curt already confirmed that i can just leave these inside.

RGB amps - untill i get 120mhz parts Smile

Mainly wondering about the BD808s RGB switcher and quad decoder.

Focus+shift
Horizontal defl
vertical defl
Port3
G2

Are the same or compatible,
So you have swapped same boards than BG808.

No swap SMPS: OK Thumbs Up

Can be swap convergence tray, the boards into tray is almost identical than BG808.

If you swapped controller from Cine 8 (eprom firmware included) i think that the projector may not work properly.

If the projector turned on is a miracle Shocked
Trying to make a coarse geometry using the menu, when you call some geometry functions I think that you'll have many errors.

Of course I may be wrong. I've never done what you did.

Like i said - everything works perfect. Also swapped the convergance trays but removed the iris camera.

Is it so surprising this projector still works after i swapped nearly every board except the SMPS/powersupply and the G2 board (which has the same R-number iirc)

And the BG808 boards aren't equal to the Cine 8 boards, i compared the BG808 all original and after swapping all the boards, in test patterns i saw a higher resolution being resolved!

The BD808s switcher and quad boards look completely different from the original BG808 boards, there must be some difference!

If they are R762719 (RGB analog input) and R762720 (RGB Driver) the mystery will be revealed!

Once i get to the projector i can check the R-numbers. Both boards are from this BD808s - serial numbers matched with the chassis.

I've read BD808s documents .... now I'm sure that it have RGB Driver board and RGB analog input board same of BG808s (and Cine8).

The mystery is revealed!

Ok!!!!!!

Now the last step is 120mhz with pinout modify.

They did look the same as my cine 8 ones although my cine 8 boards had a lot of additional cables attached due to the LimoPro (which is totally useless so i wanted it gone). Since it would be hard to remove the Limopro and reattach all the wires so i swapped the BD808s boards in!

Thanks for the help! Now 120mhz boards yes Smile
