My blue gun randomly works. Sometimes it will be on and then go off and back on at will. The project sits idle for months at a time so I thought that maybe the boards needed to be reseated. That didn't help. It's not a heat issue because I turned it on cold and the blue gun is out. Time will tell whether or not it comes back on. I have no error lights as far as I can tell.

Do I need to completely remove the boards and clean the contacts? Any where in particular to look? This is just the blue gun, red and green work great. The back of the tube is glowing the same as the others, there is just no strong output.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. Bud

Does the test pattern work on the blue tube, or is it dead as well?

I don't know. I'll go down and try to remember how to do that! You helped me when I set this up and I think I got a green tube from you. But, it's been a few years and I've gotten away from tinkering with it. Remember that it does come on and off on it's own, at least it has in the past.

As soon as I walked in the theater the gun blue came on.

And then back off again. I went into the install menu and cycled through to the blue pattern and it came on fine. Back to the DVD and it's still on... for now.

I switched to a different bluray disc and the blue is off again. If I switch to the internal test pattern the blue gun is on.
any suggestions?

Thanks. Bud

IF the test pattern is on consistently on the blue, but the video image is not, I'd suspect the blue cable running to the projector. Swap the R and B wires over at the projector input and see if the red starts cutting out. If so, then the issue is in your cabling.

As soon as I touched the BNC connnectors the blue came on. I reseated each one and it is working for now. I'll keep an eye on it. Amazing how it is usually the simpliest thing, yet I still overlooked it.

Thanks Curt. You're the best.
