Hey guys I was here a while back looking for some help getting a turntable to get back to vinyl. In the original post told you guys that I listened to all types of music and wanted a turntable to bring joy to my albums since I had an accident that paralyzed me. I told the guy at the local record store the turntable I was looking and he hooked me up with a local doctor that had one. I am so happy.

I bought a Thorens TD125 with an SME III tonearm. In the armwand was a Shure V15 type IV he said he did not know how many hours the stylus had but thought I might want to get a new stylus. We set the tracking force with his guage and listened to rock, country, soul, and bluegrass. It sounded very good. But I am now listening to the Brandenburg Concertos 1 through 6 with and Empire MC 5 that was in the second armwand. Holy Crap! This cartridge sounds incredible. I feel like I am in the concert hall. This cartridge has about 5 hours and he said it is NOS. So I think he got it from Ed Saunders but did not ask. I will when I talk to him next.

I want to thank all of you here for pointing me in the right direction. The TD 125 is a solid unit. It ain't pretty, But she purs like a kitten. It has a scratch on the plinth and the veneer has a chip from a game of beer pong (his son) gone awry. He told me he should have stuck to dogs. The chip in the veneer and lack of a dust cover (he never had one) were the reason that he threw in the extra armwand and MC5. I live where there are great old time craftsmen. Norm Abrams style. I can have a cabinet made from solid walnut or my choice of wood if I want to. It's all good.

You guys gave me great advice and for that I thank all of you. Not only did I find a good tt but I made a friend. Another old guy who likes vinyl.

Oh, I paid $700 which I felt was fair. I don't think either of us got hurt on the deal. You guys might know more about that but after 8 hours of listening I am on top of the world.

Back in the day I got "suckered" into the hype of a Linn Sondeck LP12/Itok LVII/K9. Its a decent TT but not likely any better than a Thorens at a fraction of the cost. I was able to sell it over 20 years after I purchased it for $1200 though. Can't say I would want to go back to vinyl. A couple of months ago I purchased a Cambridge Stream Magic 6 network music player and have been very happy with it.
