|
|
I have an old Pinnacle 12" powered sub. For my application it works fine. But I think the voice coil is getting weak, It is starting to rattle. I would like to replace the speaker but cant seem to find the proper one. There isnt much info on the speaker and almost none on the amp. The only info on the amp is a sticker TA 0310. The only markings on the speaker are SP-WO-0-Q 1056 9638. I have a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm car audio subs but I doubt they would work as they are not efficient speakers. Any ideas ? And why bother ? isnt helping.

Maybe a pic, so we can see shape, placement of amp etc.
We might then be able to work out Model etc.
Cheers

Keep in mind that well designed speaker boxes are tuned to the specific speaker. Sure, you can throw in whatever you want, but it may sound completely off. I'd send your speaker out to be repaired. A rattle can be as simple as a loose glue bond, which is a cheap repair.

any suggestions on where to get a speaker repaired ? The dust cover is tight, nothing appears loose.

Yes, I did check the cabinet. All good. I took Curts advice and got ahold of the Pinnacle tech rep. I got a real good deal on the proper speaker. NIB. They had a ten year warranty and about at year nine the amp went bad. They replaced it with a better amp, no problem no hassles at all. When I called about the woofer the tech remembered me from 5 years ago. Amazing ! Next week I will have a new woofer and all will be right in the world. Thanks for the help you guys.
