|
|
I have a line on a Runco rear projection unit complete. I have asked for the model number but have only been given a serial number. Anyone recognize this at all?
It is an LC unit. So that narrows it down to several models. The LC housings look to be Barco which narrows it down further.
My question if this. Are these split pack units? I appears as if it would only be useable in the rear projection configuration or would need to be put back into a standard case.

I think that's an NEC XGLC unit.

Hi,
The chassis doesn't look "Barcoish" at all to me. Curt once posted some pictures of Barco split packs and they looked completely different.
What could limit its use to rear projection would be the lenses (short throw and optimum focus only at a short range) and the fixed angles of the red & blue tube. Lenses could be swapped if the C-elements are standard (some RP's have unusual curvatures there), but the angles require modification of the upper and lower rails.
I've been there. Modified a Retrographics 801s to front projection with new C-elements and HD-18 lenses...
Regards,

Ok, Thanks for the input. I will wait for the exact model number. Doubt I'll grab it though. I was hoping that it was a 9" barco unit and I could salvage the tubes.

I'm saying XG because I don't think Barco 'made' any sets for Runco, and they did have a few XGLC sets by NEC. Also, the round shield plate and ribbon cable look like XG vintage

Really?
I was looking on the site under the specs for Runco projectors and there were three Runco DTV models listed as being Barco 1209/2, 1209S and Cine9. The only NEC LC Model listed was the 10PG xtra. With no mention of the XG chassis. That was why I made the assumption of it possibly being Barco guts. As I thought the 10PG LC stuff was rare. You are correct though Curt that ribbon wire is NECish. Are the specs for the RP units different then what is here http://www.curtpalme.com/PJSpecs_Runco.shtm?
Might be a few days before I know the model number for sure. Wish there was a clear picture of the label. There should be a model number on there with the serial number no?
Thanks for the info Curt.

Curt, you meant to say you don't think Barco made any *RP* sets for Runco, correct?
Funny, I was looking at the Barco/Runco cross-reference chart and noticed a couple of things...
* The Runco DTV-940/947 is completely missing altogether - it was a Cine 7. Should be in the list and linked to the existing 70x/Cine7 page.
* The DTV-1200 is correctly crossed to the Cine 9, but hyperlinked to a 120x/Cine9 page. The 120x/Cine 9 page doesn't reference the 909 or Cine 9 at all in the body (and the two shouldn't even be mixed since they're totally different generations of machines). The existing 120x/Cine 9 page is technically just mis-titled. The Barco Cine 9 / Reality 909 line item in the Best/Worst list also links to the 120x page.
The 909 really deserves a page of its own and as the last/best Barco ever made - especially since you're still selling them and they're commanding the most money of all the machines.
Of course, Kal is probably too busy hooking up brewing hardware and painting Kegerators for the new basement to mess with it.
Hell, if somebody gives me the rough details on the 909, I'll format the page for Kal and give him the HTML... All the projector pages are just static pages.
Sorry for the thread hijack.

Oh, and we should add the MSRP of the DTV-1200 on the page that CxTurbo just linked to... $44,995.

All good, I KNOWWWW that the 909 needs its own section. I thought at the time that the area in the tech tips was up, that it was just a newer version of a 1209s.
I have 5 909s here that are about to go on the bench, so for the first time in years, I'll take pix and will write the article up to go with the 909. Ditto for the G90 that's so sorely missing on the site.

was this on ebay? What happened to this thing?
I'd love me some short throw lenses for the xglc...i think I could then floor mount it and get an acceptable screen size.

Asked for the exact model number and never got a response back from the guy. I was at a staging/production company in the Toronto area.
