|
|
Hello everyone. Is there a difference in resolution from my computer if I output via the analog versus the DVI jack? In other words, I'm running a signal to my Marquee from a HP Digital Entertainment Center which can allow me the possibility of either using a DVI output or the traditional VGA output; Will the DVI offer me more resolution possibilities? I have never used the DVI output to date, but, I recently acquired a Moome card so this is now viable. When it is connected via the VGA output, my choices are:
> 800 X 600
> 1024 X 768
> 1152 X 864
> 1280 X 720
> 1280 X 768
> 1280 X 800
> 1280 X 960
> 1280 X 1024
> 1360 X 768
> 1600 X 900
> 1600 X 1024
> 1600 X 1200
Will I have more, or, different choices with the DVI? And, will the signal be better overall? Thanx

Innof.
I would just use HDMI. It is way simpler.

Hi,
The moome card should report resolution capabilities up to 1920 x 1080 to the source device. Not sure though if all of the smaller resolutions You mentioned will be listed too. I too depends on the HP-Box's technical specification (max. resolution at DVI output). Consult the device's user manual.
In any case: Using a digital connection (DVI or HDMI) will usually yield a better picture, especially at higher resolutions. Analog connections will always experience some signal degradation and this will be more noticeable the higher the resolution is, the longer the cable is and the lower the cable's quality is.
I'd try the following combination:
HP-Box (DVI) -> DVI-to-HDMI Adapter -> HDMI Cable -> Moome input
- or -
HP-Box (DVI) -> DVI-to-HDMI Cable -> Moome input
Regards,

The moome card will accept all resolutions I have thrown at it.
Id run 1080p@48 Hz from your pc for any 16x9 material and for blu ray 2.4 aspect movies run 800p@72. However you will have to reduce the hight of the image in 800p. The marquee can not do this unless you change 3 resistors on the VDM. So you will have to either us your PC if it has the BD player built in or use an External VP.

Thanx Very Much everyone! I do appreciate all of your feedback The set-up currently HP Digital Entertainment
Center to DVI / HDMI cable to Moome card. Can someone please tell me what 1080P equates to in computer
format - i.e. #### X #### (is it 1024 X 1080). Cheers
