|
|
Hi guys!
Well, I want to connect my server to the Marquee. However, it has to be with an AGP card, and the
ones I have lying around is only DVI(from 2005-ish). It seems difficult to find AGP cards with HDMI
I know they're the same, but I'm thinking if there's been any progress with colorspace and stuff like
v.1.1 and 1.3 HDMI compared to the old DVI output? Or will it be fine with a DVI to HDMI cable?
Thanks!

DVI to HDMI adaptors are available, and so are DVI to HDMI cables, both will do what you need.

Ok, so no loss in colorspace or anything?
Thanks!

You'll have to worry about the 165mhz bandwidth issue that has been discussed extensively on here.

Oh? Right now I'm using HDMI from a popcorn hour. So the DVI from PC will be worse?

DVI from the PC will do just fine. Ive never ever had an issue with it connected that way. DVI has the same video signal as HDMI does, so there is no reason youd lose anything more than youll lose by not just using RGB-HV in the first place. Alot of video cards have the DVI-HDMI adaptor in the box with them, its not a converter of signals, it only changes the plug type. You wont lose anything. You may be able to select between 0-255 or 16-235 colour space and disable the audio output in the video card properties.
If youre that worried about it, why not just use RGB-HV and be done with?? There is no good reason to be using digital connection when youve got the analog connections there at both ends..
