I have two Marquee PJs, a Vidikron Vision One that I use in the theater and a 9500LC that I use for parts. The Vidikron has a focus board that is full of components. The focus board from the 9500LC is half empty. I attach a picture. Is there some feature on the Vidikron focus board that is not on the other one? Or are they just two different versions of the same thing?

The bottom one is out of an Ultra. Some Vision 1s were Ultras, some were not, depending on the year it was made. The Ultra is definitely more valuable than the non, and don't waste an Ultra board in a non Ultra set..

Thanks Curt - you sold me the Vidikron and the Ultra board was in it so I guess that means it is an Ultra Vidikron. Are these boards repairable? It works but I can't get the blue really sharp. I was going to try the focus board from the other machine but stopped when I saw it was different.

Guys

The additional components run maybe six different geometry functions added new in the Ultra, including Top Key, H Bow and V Skew. Those signals are summed and injected into the Convergence Amp on the rear heat sink, that is the purpose of the flywires and 680r resistors tacked onto the board. One needs an Ultra top motherboard, v4.0 or higher firmware, and the modified Convergence Amp, DPB and Vertical Amp for full effect.

Hi,

If You just want to test if Your focus board is bad on the blue channel then You can put in the non-Ultra board and see if focus on blue works as supposed. Although the functionality mentioned by Tim won't be available while using the non-Ultra board nothing will be damaged. The most prominent difference will be that the picture geometry will be off somewhat and that the focus settings need to be adjusted (I have tried that several times when checking newly acquired boards). You better write down the old settings before changing them. Or You could use the Marquee Librarian software for storing and recalling them later. And yes, these boards are repairable. You could send Yours to Curt and use the other one in the meantime...

What Barclay said. Yes I can fix the board, but use the non Ultra board to make sure that's the problem first.

wel lat least your making progress, but that's a lot of problems your dealing with. At some point consider sending the boards to me for re-build testing / modding to insure long term trouble free operation.

Thanks for the well wishes draganm - it has been a tough fight. I just posted again in another thread about how my blue tube won't light again. I do plan to send my boards to you at some point but shouldn't I get these problems addressed first?
