|
|
Hi all,
i need some help on a Cine9.
All led's are green, tubes do not light up and projector shuts down after approx. 1 minute after power up.
Could this be a HV problem? Quad / EHT / Splitter ?
thanks for your help

No this has nothing to do with the EHT board. When you say the set turns off, do you mean it shuts off completely and the fans stop spinning?

Hi Curt,
thx for reply.
Fans are running. After shutdown you can start again and
the same happens again.

OK, I don't understand. You say that the tubes never light up, but the set shuts down after a minute, yet the fans stay running. What exactly shuts down after a minute?

Set goes into standby after it was powered up
approx 1 minute. Tubes do not come up but fans are running.
Could this be a controller board issue or would the set never come up if it is a controller prob?
thx

Sorry, I still don't understand. If the fans keep running, how does it go into standby?
Standby mode to me is when the red light on the back is on, but the fans are not spinning.

Yep, most likely the control board. It's shutting the set down, while at the same time, it allows the set to stay on long enogh for you to read the "Diagnostics" in the menu. That menu should show you if one or more of the voltage are outside of the tolerance for normal operation.
If those voltages are within range, then the controller could be defective.

Mike could well be right, although I've had other boards cause shutdown as well.
The only way to know for sure is to put your boards in a known working set, or put good boards into your set. I have a test chassis here if you want to send me some.

Would it be an idea to upgrade the controller board to the latest firmware (if possible) ?
Firmware is related to the controller board and/or year ? Or yould you upgrade a 2001 board to a 2003 firmware version?
What i have here is firmware version:
2.00 (year 2001)
2.13 (year 2002)
2.21 (year 2002)
2.30 (year 2003)
thanks

The firmware upgrade just may solve the problem, especially if you are using anything below 2.21

Thanks again for your quick reply !
The firmware is only controller board related ? All other boards aren't firmware updateable ?

Try updating the firmware, and no, it won't damage a working 909.

I have a file *.bin with firmware named "2.21" for Cine9.
It's the same of 909's?
Another question: in 909 the firmware flash must be done with specific software that use the serial port.
But projector must be fully working, I think.

If the RS232 input works, then you can flash the software if the software has glitched. You do risk killing the board completely if the firmware upload glitches, but the board is no good right now anyway..... we assume.
Really, before you flash firmware, I'd put the board into another set to confirm that it's bad. 909 controller boards are harder to find than Sony G90 Ya boards, and Barco wants $3500 each, so you better be darn sure that it's the problem!

One option could be the direct programming of the chip but I think that the firmware is contained in two EPROMs.
Someone can confirm?

Hi,
i run a test and the tool gave me that output.
What does this mean exactly ? I also saw a the red LED on the vertical board (D614 lighting up for a second).
Unfortunately i don't get any voltages out of the utility.
thanks for input

Update:
I checked the boards and the horizontal deflection board has some burn on the back.
If i swap a working one in the Cine9 could this be damaged too ?
I think the burn must happen due to the fan fail in the middle because the board get very hot in operation ?!
Board is: R763140
thanks
