Hi guys
My Ampro 4000G pj refuses to start. I get an error 20 at 74 and then error 20 at 4e messages on the remote. Could this be an I2C error?. The battery tests 3.36V. It was working fine the previous day. I removed the cpu board to find out the battery # which is a Keeper ll LTC-7P. Could it be that since voltage is lower than 3.5V cause this error and where in Canada can I find this battery? Thank's
Don

Double check if it really is the battery, if it is get it done by Curt not worth doing yourself he has the batteries and the knowledge to install them, well worth the price. From what Scott told me the battery can go down a bit and everything should be ok but I am not sure what the limit is.

Over 3 volts it should be OK. You have a communication prob,em between the CPU board and the registration board. It shouldn't be the battery, but it might be an idea to change it. I have two 2000 chassis left that I can partially test boards on, but have thrown out most of the 2000/4000 stuff. If you want, send them in, figure about $150 incl return shipping to fix.

Thanks guys but, I am wondering if it is worth fixing. Although it does throw a nice picture on my 8ft screen, it is a 1991 vintage. I have a mint 6PG xtra and the idea of hanging this one up has been running in the back of my mind for a while. I just never got around to it because the Ampro was trouble free and I did not want to lose any image quality considering that the Nec are 7" tubes. What do you think? Will there be much of a difference?

With an unfunctional AmPro? It's needless! Mr. Green

You never know. The NEC could have the "scrambled mess" issue ;D
