|
|
My equipment and signal chain is in my sig. The screen is 16:9.
After failing to setup 1920x817p72 and having good luck with 1600x900p72, I've decided to just try 1920x1080p48.
I guessed at the timings, based on 1600x900, but the image is stretched horizontally (5% side overscan) and not very linear. If I reduce H-width to get even overscan, the circle in the middle of the screen becomes an ellipse.
Anyone got some tight timings for a Barco that would fix these problems and minimize flicker?

I found these timings from another Barco user on the internet. What do you think?
Vtotal 1125
Vactive 1080
Vfront 20
Vsync 5
Vrate 47,95
Htotal 2300
Hactive 1920
Hfront 45
Hsync 50
Clock 124080000
With these my geometry problems are gone, but there is screen flicker.

And that's the problem with 48hz in my opinion. Have you tried 1080i96?

I can't - my lousy VP doesn't support interlaced formats.

Then try with 720P 60-96hz.
What i understand, the 808 don't do 1080P right. And 48hz is not very nice framerate for CRT.. i don't like less than 60hz.

Been watching a lot of 1080p48 with the settings I posted above and not noticing the flicker! Detail is very nice on these Sony tubes with upgraded lenses. It doesn't seem as smooth though, but that could be my VP skipping frames. Like I said 72p works just fine at the lower resolutions, but 1080i looks sharper hence my interest in higher res.

Back then I was using the Sigma VXP built-into my Anthem. I have since moved on to a Lumagen and now run 1080i72 happily.
