|
|
Hello all.
I recently found a G70 for free, with some issues.
The set runs for a couple seconds, and shuts down with an error code of 30. Now, I know that means it's the DC board at fault, but what on that board usually fails?
The previous owner said there were some red convergence issues, with a jagged red line running across the top of the screen. Now I can't get it to stay on long enough to test it, but when the tubes come on for that 1-2 seconds, I can see some raster distortion and a curved line at the bottom of the tube.
I'm thinking one of the two STK-392-220 SIPs are bad, based on previous experience with them in NECs. All components look fine, with no signs of burning/bulging/damage. I have reseated the board and the resistor packs.
Any ideas? The SIPs are available, and I'd like to save (and not replace the whole) DC board.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! | yes, that's usually it. Replace with higher voltage rated chip and use fresh thermal paste

Excellent. Would you happen to know what number a good higher voltage equivalent would be? I plan on replacing both.
Thanks!

Thanks! | no but if google the part number on the old one along with "failure" or "higher voltage rated replacement" it will come up with the new one.

From what I've found, the STK392-220 is the highest rated of that type. There's a 230 listed on a few sites, but no information or other references.
I'll probably go with the original IC (STK392-220), unless anyone has any other ideas.
I'll keep looking first.
