OK Guys
I am going out on a limb here but I expect that he is feeding some signal thru a decoder board and the chroma processing has quit; try to locate another composite/S/whatever board for the Seleco.

Ok, are you feeding it NTSC with the machine set to PAL? Or vise versa?
SCART is a multi mode type of plug, it does have composite video ( which is also where it takes the sync signal for an RGB input ) so the adaptor is not converting the signal in any way, all it is doing is changing the plug type. Composite video is on pins 19 ( out ) and 20 ( in ) of the SCART socket. If the unit sees no blanking voltage on pin 16, it will set to composite video mode in almost all cases. 1-3 volts on pin 16 will switch to RGB mode, and will blank the composite video, but uses that composite video for the sync signal.
The YUV plug on the DVD player should be red green and blue like any other component video output!! Ive never seen one that had a yellow plug for anything other than composite video.
KAL, i would assume the line out he is refering to is the audio line out.

Hi,
It's a new setup and he just received the Seleco.
There are several things that can go wrong with it:
- As mentioned before it is possible that the Signal coming from the DVD player isn't composite video but something else (e.g. Y-signal from Y/C)
- The DVD player may only have two connectors being used for either composite or Y/C and the DVD player's settings could be wrong
- The Scart adaptor being used could be wrong
- If You feed composite video to the Seleco SVT150 it will be processed by almost the entire video chain including the PAL decoder. This decoder could be defective. If the DVD player puts out something else than PAL (like NTSC) the picture most likely will be B/W only.
- The Seleco has an internal tuner for conventional RF TV reception. If using it the picture is B/W too then I would suspect the PAL decoder being the culprit. If it is in color then I would suspect the cabling or the DVD player's settings.
Long time ago when I first started getting interest in CRT projection I got two SVT150. One wasn't working and the other one haad some minor issues too. As soon as I saw the picture (dim&fuzzy) I lost interest and put them into storage. Later on I parted them out. I think that I have some documentation (including service manual and schematics) for the SVT150 and I have most of the parts & boards too.
Before starting swapping boards I would suggest checking all of the items above.
Regards,

you need an RGB transcoder to convert the Video out to the Red, Green, and Blue signals for color.
The scart adaptor does not convert a composite signal to to the appropriate Scart signals. So I bet that the adaptor is just splitting the composite signal to each RGB equally giving you a black and whit signal. there is no chroma signal being used.
