Is it normal for grayscale to change significantly while gamma remains relatively the same? Here are some shots of my first calibration of a Panasonic TCP50X3 with an Eye-One Display 2. The grayscale appears much better (I tried to balance between the recommended contrast level and loss of red at higher IREs), but the gamma seems virtually unchanged.
Does this mean there's a problem? I've attached the .chc files if you want to have a look at anything else.

I mean... this is a stupid question, but you have to adjust gamma to change gamma...is this what you are trying to do?
Getting grayscale right with RGB cuts/gains doesn't do a whole lot to gamma because it really shouldn't affect gamma at all (though sometimes there will be some small effects.
In other words, to adjust gamma you have to adjust gamma. So far it appears you have adjusted grayscale. So...

That's essentially what I was asking: does grayscale affect gamma? Part 7 of the guide which talks about results of the grayscale tweaks states that a gamma boost was put into the display chain. But the section is primarily talking about the results that the calibration made. Therefore, the implication (at least how I read it) is that the grayscale calibration did *something* to the gamma ("Our gamma is much better now").
But if there is really no connection, that's fine, too. I just wanted to be sure I hadn't done something wrong.
So here's my follow up question: the guide mentions gamma boost if the level is too high (as it is in the initial gamma measurement in the guide). But in my readings, I've got this hump effect where my mid IREs are pretty good while both the low IREs and high IREs are too bright. Is there a dongle/box/whatever that can help with that sort of issue that's for HDMI inputs and in the price range of the RTC2200 ( < $200)?

No, grayscale in theory should not have any affect on gamma. In practice, adjusting cuts/gains is kind of like adjusting brightness/contrast, and again they shouldn't have any affect on gamma, but often do have some affect.
Conversely, adjusting black/white points (brightness/contrast) and gamma should not have any affect on grayscale, but again they often do as well to some degree.
