Ok I have a Creek OBH 8 MM phono Preamp i want to convert to the OBH 9 MC pre amp. I opened it up and the
Board id a universal Board for either or. there are some parts missing. I looked around on the net but found no one who has done this and explained what they did. I sent an E-mail to Creek as someone on an old post at AudioKarma did it the other way around but the never explained what they did or I could have figured it out.

Mac do you have the schematics for this and can you tell me what to add and remove?
I have to replace C11 as its beginning to bulge.

There are a few Cap locations where they have a "A" designation.

I think I'm going to recap the entire board with Panny FC FM and maybe
C11 with a Black Gate. They also use a few Wet Tants in there.

Drags your a Turn table Builder any experience building a phono stage?

A quick search from my places yield no prints. I'll look deeper later.

Looking at your pictures I believe that the ids ending with the A means it's part of the P/S, ids below 100 are for 1 channel and parts above 100 are for the other channel.

If the MC board is the same as your MM board there has to be more to it then just filling in the unpopulated parts. A moving coil usually requires more gain then the moving magnet and I'm just not see this with just filling in the blanks....

Yeah they dont use an op amp here and instead are using discrete transistors etc.

If I have time i'll try to identify each one and its associated PCB address. That might help figure out where to make any changes to get the increased Gain.

Id like to actually get the proper gain for the MC Cart I am using, I need to get the output number for that.

I decided not to convert this as I had a brain fart moment. My Sumiko Blue Point Evo III is a High Output MC with a 2.5mV output.
So the OBH-8 works fine. I just upped the 2200 uf input cap to a panny FC 4700uf cap. A little more output voltage would be nice which is currently at 250mV I wish it was closer to 5mV.

Looking at the board looks like r108 is the last resistor on the output, altering this might get me more output. I think the resistor up at the top right corner next to the lytic cap is the other channel. I might have to play with values there and put it on the scope.

Not exactly. 2 friends and I all planned to build Hagerman phono pre's and purchased the enclosures. I machined all 3 sets but only one got built, I sold mine and one of the other guys did as well. The guy who built his was very pleased, it's a nice looking amp. About a $700. project assuming you don't have to pay for the CNC milling.
I was just not into any more at that point and have sold my Linn LP12 too. I'll never sell my vinyl but a good new TT is still over $500.

if you want 5mv output just get a Rega Cartridge. The Exact or Exact 2 are very high output carts, high quality hand-built in UK.
