AVNet is huge...The company I work for does about $100K/ year with them...I don't think you should have an issue with counterfeit.

You could probably order them directly from Analog Devices.

Something like this I wouldn't hesitate to buy out of China. I doubt they would be counterfeit. A lot of companies in China are buying left over stock from manufacturers over there after they are finished with what ever the run was. I have already been buying from China with no problems. You can get these chips dirt cheap. Small gamble.

not a bad idea, if Dennis hasn't bought them all up Mr. Green At least they would be 100% OEM . I also need the secondary slot guide rail , why hell do people take those off?

Holy crap, they're actually listed from Chi-bay as re-furb's Shocked How the hell do you re-furbisih a chip like this though? Can anyone decipher the date code ? mine looks like Aug-6-91 and the re-furb? is 3-01-98?

Also, the secondary number is different, mac/walter you guys know if that's relevant?

Drags, get the SOIC chips and then get the DIP adaptors. It be much easier than sourcing out the out of date DIP version.

Order one to test the performance.

Hi,

I'd like to help but the only older VIM I have is an 50-2005-03p (Iss. 2) where the AD834 are already SMT (AD834JR). Otherwise it's complete including rail...

Regards,
barclay66

Edit: I found a surplus reseller here in Germany which has stock of AD834JN (NOS). Would have to ask for pricing though. I had bought from this company before and everything was genuine and ok.

Hi,
I think the datecodes are week 5 of 1995 and week 51 of 1995. Most datecodes have four digits (year and week of year). The numbers below most probably indicate the batch number...

ok good to know, i didn't realize the older VIM was SOIC. Nash I'm not sure I want to mess with an adapter on such a High BW chip and risk possible noise issues

well AVnet has them for $34. and they're here int he Us. Mike say's they're a big, legit company.
I'll probably just go that route, or take the $6. gamble with the smurfed chip from Asia Razz

Hi,

I think what they call "refurbished" may be desoldered chips or those pulled from sockets. Nevertheless they look like genuine parts. Usually when counterfeited You would find minor differences in either the casing or the markings (like thinner characters or uneven looking logos). You might get some dead ones as I don't believe they were able to test them properly...
