|
|
Hi Guys as the title states I have a screw loose on the c element holder, I think I overtightened and now its just not tightening at all and there is a slight leak. I changed the screw out and same problem, I am assuming the threads in the LC block are gone if this is the case. I thought the rubber was not in position and reseated the c element etc but same issue.
So, what are my options?
1: Can I use rtv silicone and seal the area the glycol leaks from or the entire area around the c element holder?
2: can I drill into the LC chamber and through the c element holder and install a screw with a slightly larger diameter?
3: Do I have to replace the LC chamber with another and make sure I dont do this again!
I am trying hard to avoid option 3 so suggestions would be great, thanks all.

Not sure what projector this is, but thinking marquee, try removing the screw, chasing the threads in the housing with a tap, and installing a new screw. If you need screws, I have extras from when I bought a box from McMaster Carr. Again, I'm talking Marquee. You shouldn't need to go to option 3 though. That can be repaired.

sorry, take a tap of the appropriate size and thread count (used to cut threads) and run it into the hole that is giving you issues. Hopefully it will repair the damaged threads. If it doesn't do the trick, drill and tap the whole a little bigger and put in the new appropriate sized screw. Start with trying to repair the threads that are there though.

Hello
Mop up all the spilled glycol and bolt the lens on, that is four more screws to hold things together.

Problem solved Magyver told me to check the depth of the hole and if it was deeper and threaded just put a longer screw in there, all is good thanks people!
