Oh Mike, a three letter response. I'm sure you can do better than that Wink
I recently had to get a real job and compete with real people in the real world.
I no longer have time to play Mr. Tweakmaster. I must conform to plug-and-play
or suffer the wrath of $hit outta whack.

If you say you never have to make adjustments means you never at least check.
That takes time.

I love the comment in the first persons review...

"we love this tv, best one we ever had however its number 2.
the first one lasted 3 weeks and would'nt turn on. it took almost a month to get it replaced, so we paid for the value."

I wonder if this is part of lurkers industry report........hahahahaha!!!!!!

Panasonic Pro series Plasmas, 100,000 life. Modular upgradable and 2 year warranty on site!!!

I have seen one of the 50 inch models and i must say the closest to CRT i have seen, deep blacks and depth to rival CRT FP.

I might be retiring my Mitsu 65815 diamond series CRT for one of these babies!!

Reliability

Panasonic Professional Plasma Displays are among the most reliable in the industry with 100,000 hours of service life. This provides customers with approximately seven years of continuous use, or more than 20 years of typical operation before the panel reaches a 50% brightness performance level. This specification is even more remarkable as Panasonic has recently improved the brightness by 20%.

This high-level 100,000-hour service life has also greatly improved Panasonic Plasmas resistance to image burn-in. This performance now exceeds the typical burn-in resistance provided in conventional CRT TVs, meaning that if your current CRT technology has not burned in, neither will your Panasonic Plasma in similar operation. While no technology including DLP or LCD is immune to burn-in, (or what is called Static Image Retention) the Panasonic Plasma, when operated as outlined in the product instruction manual, will resist burn-in in the vast majority of all applications.

Panasonic backs each professional plasma with a 2-year parts and labor warranty including on-site customer support.

Curt and Mac, now you know how much I love CRT but honestly these pro series panny's are something even you two would love.
Modular design and much easier repair than traditional Flat panels. you pay for it but hell they have a much longer serviceable life than crapy mass market Flat panels.

Not sure I get what you mean by modular design. They already are and always have been. Replace modules(boards).

they have expansion slots for upgrade options and from what I saw, it seems some of the boards can be accessed easier for repair like in our CRT's. remove a panel and slide the board out, instead of having to take the whole thing apart to get to boards.
But i only took a quick look at the back.

Athanasios,

I think the modularity is probably in the I/O section of the set - just like our CRT projectors - so you can add DVI, HDMI, RGB, component, etc. inputs as cards. Once you get beyond that though, I'd bet the boards are very similar to their consumer counterparts, but with some added pro integrator features like RS-232 and IP connectivity for remote control and diagnostics. I bet they have a little nicer chassis than the consumer models, though plasma chassis have to be pretty stout, anyway.

I do like the Panasonic plasmas, though.

I am not really that interested in flat screens, but I did notice there were some pretty decent ones at Cedia. While not a flat screen, I thought Mit's Laservue had the best 3D at the show.
