Hello guys,

just found out that my Marquee n uked another HVPS.

made a mistake in pushing the Power Button twice, switchd the projector off then on and off again

did not power up next day.

found out today that the HVPS in nuked again.

3rd in one year.

will try to put an a 34kV HVPS , due to better protection.

anyone know how to modify a 'normal' HVPS to ave better protection ?

Thanks

Michael

I had one customer that went through 4 in about 6 months a long time ago, on an 8000 I think. Of course he didn't tell me that he'd bought his 3rd one from me, to replace 2 he'd already bought, then wanted warranty. After the second one I'd asked him if he'd had this problem before, and he told me that yes, he'd gone through 2 already. Unfortunately he wasn't local, and while he did send me back one of his originals, he had hacked the silicone open, so I had no idea where the problem was.

I would change the HV splitter and the LVPS and maybe the HV leads. It seems unlikely if the set is working that something can 'overload' the HV output, you'd see that in the image, but 3 HVPS in a year is unacceptable!

We discussed this here or at avs when I found out about my customer, and the only thing we could come up with is that maybe the 380 volt input to the HVPS was high, stressing the parts.

Turning the set on and off quickly did NOT kill your HVPS.

Now, a woman is an entirely different story. Turn her off after you turned her on, and it's all over. Smile

Thanks Curt,

HV Splitter has been changed before.
HVPS will be the old one that has better protection.

Steve told me that the leads are ok.
