Hi, I recently jumped into the CRT Projector world with a Runco 1100 DTV (aka Barco 1209), and I have been looking for a good dvi/hdmi to vga converter. Have you guys heard anything about these units?

ViewHD Two

VISIONFC4

Is there any downside to these converters vs dumping $280?

Thanks!

Yes. The ones you mention use cheap DACs, op-amps which result in a softer picture. Many of these cheaper ones also have floating black levels which is annoying to watch. And so on....

You get what you pay for.

You have a very high end ($40K+) CRT projector. I wouldn't cripple it myself with an $80 converter.

Thanks.

Good to know about the DAC quality, I was looking for those specs on the cheapy ones and couldn't find them.
I will have to suck it up and go with HDFury/Moome!
