Hi Everyone,
My Wife wanted the boy's Wii hooked up in our living room Home Theater,
only have the composite output, but it is horrible.
Tried 720p, 960, 1080p, all look horrible.
Will look at the component output lead after the new year,
But, can it get any better image wise?
or should I just go for the 480p image.
I did search, but found very little help.
Much Appreciated.
Cheers

I used my original NES hooked up to my DVDO iScan HD with composite, and output a 1280x1024 resolution to a LCD monitor... Honestly I dont know if it was better or not because I didnt have the remote for my video processor, and I didn't (and still mostly don't) know how to operate it yet,
Try hooking it up with a component or better yet since you are using composite, try using S-Video if the Wii has that option, or convert composite to S-Video and try upscaling it that way with the Radiance
I would have to believe that the image would be better if your using a video processor, otherwise what the hell is the point of a video processor?

Thanks Jeremy,
I just went and tried 480p output from the radiance, still looks terrible.
Scan lines everywhere, and not even passable to watch.
Not hooked up my Laser Disk yet, but if it looks this bad also I will be dis-appointed.
Will get the component cable after the new year.
Cheers

I would think that the component cable would give a better image once you scaled it. Fortunately it is cheap to try.

The component video cable will obviously be a big step up, youre going from compost video at no more than 480i to component at 480p...
Its a no brainer...
I dont have anything as new as the Wii, but all the consoles i DO have ( LOTS!! ) most of them put out RGB, and most are still 240p, with the exception of the Sega Saturn, PS1, and 3DO, which on some games put out 480i and 576i, but all are still 15.75kHz. Every single one of those consoles looks a million dollars when using RGB-S instead of composite or S-video... Same res, but WAY sharper and better colour.
Now in your case, youre talking about a console that puts out double the picture info with component video... It WILL look better.. and noticably so... You cant get any more than 480i out of the Wii with the s-video or composite cables, all you get is 15.75kHz...

Thanks Everyone,
No shops open today, but tomorrow I will pick up a component cable, then see how it looks.
Much Appreciated.
Cheers
