Can this be done? Im not asking if they will "fit" in there, im asking "will they work electrically" or "can they be made to work electrically" with a 9PG?

Seems P16s of various sorts have been used in rear pro TVs of all breeds....

What do all the letters mean following the "P16"?? Such as "P16LSG03HKA" was the ones out of a Panasonic GAOO rear pro TV, P16LFM00HLA was from a Toshiba etc etc...

Well, tubes starting with P16 are so similar like transistors starting with BD.. -they can be totally different. The most important thing is the neck length, I've seen some short neck P16s probably they can't stand that high anode voltage which would neede, and there would be insufficient light emission, even if they are electrically ok.
Also some of those tubes were constructed directly for LC applications therefore the phosphorous surface inside the tube might be curved causing focus problems in AC applications. Some time ago I stumbled upon a 180BVB22 tube which seemed exactly like a P16JLE tube, but it had curved phosphor...
I think the low light emission would be the biggest problem with all of those tubes,
