Getting the top or bottom of the picture totally perfect is very difficult with a Ampro due to the way the lens are mounted on plates, I was wondering if you could drill directly into the LC chambers and mount the lenses directly to the chambers? I imagine the answer is probably no as this would mean the chambers would leak or you would be drilling to close or into the glycol chamber? I dont ever remember reading a thread on this but then my memory sucks...............

Just wondering out loud.

I am guessing Chip and others already thought better of this and just replaced the LC chamber with another brand?

Don't do it.

The combination of lower projection angle and widescreen image reduces the bad focus effect. If you were to shoot a zero projection angle you would have no corner focus issues.
I did design a set of top and bottom plates to squeeze in a set of Marquee optics but never got around to doing it. I no longer have the desire to play mod boy with CRT projectors. I just don't have the time for it.

Thanks Chip, for some reason I thought you had done it, as you say with widescreen material you will never see the issue, I was curious to see if someone had done it.

Yup, got a few movies which are 4.3, I have the PJ pretty low down of the ceiling, well as low as I could get it so the problem has not been too bad but I had issues which I wanted to resolve.

4:3, Cool!

Issues? With an Ampro? hehe

I had mine on last night. It's developed a tic. It overheats with the case on. Good thing it's winter. I'll have to pipe some cold air in to chill it.
