Hi, I have been reading some on using external test patterns to set up crt projectors. While I understand some projectors allow you to adjust the convergence while not locked to a signal resulting in the image from say a blu-ray player not being perfectly aligned to the internal test pattern my xg sets it to the signal input. Is this correct or can the xg's still benefit from external test patterns? also even with an external pattern aren't you still limited to the adjustments on your projector? so even if a external pattern shows an area that is slightly out of alignment you may not be able to adjust this or am I just missing something? Is there a way to modify the projectors to adjust to a external pattern? thanks

also I can not seem to get my blue in focus. green is sharp red needs some work but blue is just horrible...

Smile that at least was a faster response then I expected to get Smile I am still trying to figure out how to decode the message behind it to answer my question. my biggest problem is figuring out if the lawyer is indeed the external test pattern.....

Because sometimes the internal test pattern you use will be perfectly aligned all across the whole screen, and when you go back to the video image, the colours do not perfectly align. Ive had this happen on my NEC with certain signals, and the way i got around it was to use static with the test pattern turned off, and move which ever colour needed to be moved while the video image was running. It was hardly anything out, but then when i brought up the internal patern, you could see the red didnt line up with the blue and green, yet was perfectly fine on the video.

Now if i used an external patern from my bluray player, i wouldnt have had this issue, cause i wouldve set the geometry and convergence using that external patern, and it wouldve all been lined up.

Ofcourse youre limited to factory adjustments. Youre still adjusting the same settings, youre just not using the internal test patterns to see the results!!
