So I'm sitting here thinking about all of the $$ I have spent over the years on this setup and lord knows I wont even get a quarter of that investment back (although my enjoyment of the system has been worth every penny), and was curious what you guys think my setup is worth. Feel free to be honest. I wont get mad at ya Smile

Here is the equipment

2 Sony G90's fan modded, color corrected, retubed (350 hours on tubes), dallas chips changed. Serial numbers not part of the G90's made with the faulty chip.
1 Lumagen Radiance XD 3D+ with Emitter
1 Mike Parker Modified Marquee switcher (to drive projectors) with Mike Parker Modded Moome board
8 Pairs of Samsung 3D glasses
Ceiling mounts
Canary Cables

I was just thinking if I decided to sell the setup, may as well put it as a complete package...... NOT THAT I AM GOING TO SELL Smile Cool

Cliff

All I can say is I live about 75 miles East of Cliff...On a quiet evening I can hear him playing Guitar Hero.

Seriously Cliff? Anyone outside of the CRT realm wouldn't pay anything for it. That's the nature of the beast(s). You might be able to add $10K to the house if you were selling it, but I think of the average schmuck realized that he'd need to get Ken WHitcomb or similar in once a year for say $1200, they'd ask you to take it out.

Retubed G90s are worth $4-5K from me, and apparently I priced the last one too low, as I had a lot of people interested. So take that for what it's worth. Completely retubed, $4Kish each I'd say.

The thought of burning 2 G90's for Guitar Hero still gives me chills...

Cliffy, I'd say the value of your setup is **entirely** based on finding the right seller. If you found someone as crazy about perfect video as you are, it would be worth a lot. For most of us here, probably a lot less. For most "normal" people, not much.

So it's pretty hard to put a value on it. You could get a guess of the "video fanatic" selling price, but would you find another CRT fanatic willing to take on the 6 guns? Maybe, dunno... that's a pretty small market niche.

Cliff, What’s it all worth? Priceless! You have been around for quite awhile , here and on AVS. Since Art went to the digital side you have been the undisputed BIG DOG of CRT land. If nothing else, the small fortune you have spent has afforded you exclusive bragging rights and excusive KING status of conspicuous consumption in a small obscure somewhat twisted brotherhood. So with that said, your HT collection is priceless seeing your return on investment! Don’t sell it, enjoy the HT for a while longer then donate the setup to a nonprofit and enjoy the tax right off. Then start all over again on the digital side. Laughing

Or, I will give you $1 for the whole thing right now. Mr. Green

LOL well I can hook that up too!

LCR Klipsch KLF-20's
Surrounds Klipsch RS-35's
ATI 1800 7 Channel amp 200W PC@8ohms
2 SVS PB12 Plus 2's
Onkyo SC-885 PRE

Did you need a blu ray player to go with that?

I also have a 3D HTPC/BD, Oppo BDP83, and a Toshiba A35.

Cool. That gives me an idea what I am looking at then. Not as bad as I thought! I MAY need capital for an upcoming project and knowing these tubes are nice and minty, it peaked my curiousity Smile

Not having YA boards that will self destruct is a definite plus. 90% of the value of that setup is in the G90's and I'd say $3-$3,5K /G90 would be fair to both buyer and seller. Complete system I'm guessing $7-8K, although you'd probably have an easier time breaking it down and selling the pj's individually.

Yeah, I'd probably sell the 6 guns for 3k each. I just checked the green tubes with an LED flashlight and you can just BARELY make out the wear pattern but to be honest, I would much rather sell the setup as a setup for my size screen and that would eliminate any issues with wear but I dont even think it would be an issue if I sold as is now as it takes an LED flashlight to even see it. Ya know, if I didn't know better, I'd say your "Sheesh" thread was designed to create interest in your system followed by this thread as a attempt to sell it on the open forum. It's a good thing Curt likes you. Anyone else would be banished to hang out with Gary Laughing

LOL, I have no intention of selling but I have some business investments I am looking at that may require more capital hence the inquiry. I wouldn't put it up for sale here anyway. That is against the rules!!!!!! DUH!!! Mr. Green

Speaking of Gary, I still have that SDI modded Yamaha SACD player from him. Works great! What the hell ever happened to him anyway? I know there was some bad business deals but he just vanished!

In all honesty cliff, your setup currently as it is, is probably worth $7000+ (with what you mentioned). I think any of us here would be hard pressed to find exactly what you have for less.

Now assuming you were to sell it a few years from now, youd probably get maybe $2000 for it, based on the fact that digitals do get better every year, and less and less people will be buying CRT. Plus after having guitar hero burned into the tubes, who would want to buy the G90s then? Razz

Cliffy, I think what your are saying is your looking for a value to use it for collateral to acquire some capital. Your not trying to sell. Is that correct? If so I'd say it's worth 25 grand.... Laughing

Most of what makes that system special is the set-up. You can't sell that unless you are selling the house along with it.
So you can't use the set-up as collateral, only the hardware. If you were to borrow against it and default on the loan, all anyone could ever hope to get from it is repo'ing the hardware. In this day and age I doubt any decent loan officer would take two used CRT projectors as collateral to secure a loan.
