TV/Projector: All of them!

Posted: Thu Nov 24, 2011 2:23 am    Post subject: Estes trucking: 1 Sony G90: 0

So I had a pretty decent day today until I got the email from New York saying that the freshly retubed G90 that I sent out in a Barco 909 box with padding all around had 'speckles' on the green and red tubes, and a cracked cover.

Looks like both tube necks were sheared off in transit, the speckles were massive phosphor delaminations. Greeeeat!

How the hell can you bang around a G90 so that two tube necks snap? Anyone familiar with the G90 knows how well the tubes are protected.

So, a few questions:

Is there anyone close to Rome, NY that can assist with swapping tubes? Customer has an existing G90 with worn tubes that can be dropped in to get him going (I couldn't repair his G90 fault with board swaps, so I sold him a retubed set since his tubes were pretty worn, and I was going to get his set back once he got mine.

He's been down for a couple of months now, so I'd like to get him running with his tubes. I'll put new tubes into other LC housings, ship them down, then hopefully he can swap them once he sees how it's done.

Second, does anyone know if a Canadian can use the US small claims court system in the US to sue? I've been burned once already this year with Roadway stacking some projectors I bought, and they flat out said that that's how they picked them up. (bull****!)

Now, if I run into issues with Estes, I'll need to sue them for the $2500 that the set was insured for.

I will check with the Blaine small claims court system on Monday, but otherwise I might get the customer involved on my behalf if I can't sue them... that is, if they don't cooperate.

You don't need a lawyer and you don't need a court, research commercial affidavits and commercial liens.

I bought my first LCD TV in Rome back in 1988 at the Circuit City. 4" LCD $400.00 Laughing awesum little TV. Used it to death.

Curt, what is it with your luck with shipping companies lately? Go buy a rabbit and rub it's feet.

I don't see why you couldn't. Your an American company using an American shipping company. I would just drop the line "I'd like the address where I can send the court papers" to them and that may help you. Good luck, small claims court sucks. We have had a shippping company damage 6k worth of building materials (roof panels none the less) and also deny materials were even shipped even though on video you could see the material (skylights) being placed on a pallet and shippped.

Well, a bit of good news amongst the bad, the green tube is untouched, it's the R and B that are smashed. Customer disconnected the R and B HV leads, and the set fired up, so at least the chassis is OK.

I think the customer can swap tubes by himself, so for now I don't need assistance here, thanks!
