|
|
I have BG808s with SONY 07MFP2 tubes. The deflection yoke is DAV7645H and focus yoke should be KF-3203G (Barco PN R306641) but the numbers are worn off the sticker. I just want to verify if this is the case or not.
What can I look for? There is another sticker with 1158043 on the yoke.

I use these for rewinding to make " Barkenstien" yolks for the marquee. The G means it is for the green tube , The green is different because the have the magnets turned 180 degrees to the red and blue. I guess Barco thought the alternating magnetic feild wouldnt interfere with each other and give better focus. it is my theory but not proven.
So i bet the one your looking at is not the green tube, correct?

I'm looking at them all and there is no R number whatsoever.

Barco used different focus yokes, but all had somewhat different connectors going to it. If the yoke looks the same as the others, and the white connector has the right pins on it, you should be good.
Bad focus on the sides of a tube is caused by the focus/H shift board if that's a problem.

Thanks all.
Actually I'm sure it's OK and I got the PJ from you Curt... one of the last $1000 ones with high standby hours. What are the chances these are factory installed tubes and magnetics?

The fans I'm guessing have very high hours too. How do i get them out? I'm afraid to pull too hard on the rubber mounts in case they break.

Is the front 80mm fan always noisier than the others? I cleaned it but it still makes a slight grating sound. Not loud but more prominent and irritating than the usual white noise from fans.

They pop off the rubber mounts. Once in a while, one will snap if the rubber is getting old, but there's no other way to take them off.

Yes the front one spins a lot faster because it is smaller. Even the low hour 808 projector I had this made significant more noise or at least more noticeable noise than all the other fans. That fan is the main reason why I prefer the 120x series because they use another 120mm fan on top for that function and are MUCH quieter. Also one of the fans in the back causes more turbulence than the other two, if memory serves it is the middle one. You can slow these two fans down with a resistor and the noise will be reduced but you run the risk of overheating the parts and destroying them early. I did it and put about 1500 hours on that particular 808 with no problems before I upgraded it to a 1209s clone. But my media room is on the cool side, I tend to use my projector in short spurts, of 90 mins or less and I had more than one full set of spares. So your mileage may vary. Also the NMB fans used in Barcos are really high quality. I have not noticed a major difference between high (north of 10k hours) and low hour fan noise. My current projector is a Runco clone of the 1209s and has high (mostly standby hours--15k) and it is no more loud than the lower hour 1208s I had at one point.
I will also warn you when I did try to replace high hour fans in another Barco projector (it made no difference) I did destroy a few of the rubber mounts. I wouldn't try to remove the fans without a few spares. I am sure Curt or others have some floating around, I might even have some, that could be shipped to you for low cost. You might also find substitutes in the PC modding/cooling community.
