|
|
Hello!
I'm from Germany and this is my first post in this forum, but I'm reading here for many years. I have a BV708MM Projector (my third CRT in the last 10 years).
Until yesterday I was really happy with my Barco, but then the projector shuts up.
After I turned the Barco on, the geometry and convergence settings where restored and something out of the projector smells a little bit smokey.
First thing I try was to reset all the convergence settings and blocks to reconfigurate/reinstall the Barco. But then I realize, I can't make any geometry and convergence adjustments. The Barco shows me the Barco-Scale (midpos 49-50) for every adjustment, but when I change them to 0 or 100 nothing happens on the screen. But there is a "funny" thing: I can change the convergence in the area right under the middle (convergence area 6). But no other area and no geometry adjustments (vertical centerline, bow and skew, etc.) will take effect. But I still can change the H-Phase, H/V Size, etc.
When I turn off the Barco, the LED's for +conv and -conv on the power-connection is blowing, so I think that there is an error on the convergence board. The I2C-Diagnostic shows no errors.
Which board could be the reason for my problems, maybe the convergence driver board or the convergence output board?
If it is the convergence driver board:
My convergence driver board has the PCB No. 780319. on pictures this board looks like the convergence driver module R762518 for the 808s, 1208s and 1209 and the R762454 for the not MultiMedia Barco 708. Does one of this also fits to my BV708MM?
I don't have 2 left hands, maybe I can repair the board by myself, but I don't know where the error could com from. Maybe someone here knows what (and where) I have to look for the error.
Many questions, but I would be very happy if anyone could help me!
Cheers
Sascha

The convergence output boards die all teh time on those sets, and they are very hard to repair. I have a whole box full of dead ones.
I should have a working one that I can sell for $75 plus shipping. AS I said, repairing those boards are some of the hardest in all the Barco modules.

Thank you very much for your quick help!
If you are sure that the convergence output board is the reason for the damage, I would be interested to buy this one from you. The PCB No. from my module is R762455.
I‘ve take a look on my convergence output board and maybe I’ve found some faulty soldered joints:
Is it possible, that these are the reason for the damage?
How much costs the shipping to Germany? It would be very nice, when the convergence output board and shipping wouldn’t be more than $100, because I am a poor student and don't have much money. Is this possible?
Once again, thank you for your help!
Greetings from the Mosel/Germany
Sascha
