Hi,

I am a complete beginner as far as calibration goes. I'm not a professional and don't really need super-professional quality calibration. I recently bought a retail version of the X-rite i1 Display Pro. However I can't seem to get it to work with the greyscale and colour calibration guide posted in these forums. Is it possible to use this with ColorHCFR? Is there some other software I could use to calibrate my TV?

Thanks!

You can either Buy Chromapure or Calman. I know Calman supports the retail version of that probe and I think Chromapure is has added it or will soon.

Chromapure is easier for beginners but there are things in Calman i like better. Both have the strong points and weak points.

Still waiting for official word that it'll support the retail version of the i1 Display PRO (aka 'Display 3').

Have you had any news? I don't want to spend a large amount of money on ChromaPure if it isn't going to work

At this time ChromaPure does not support the retail Display 3 (aka i1 Display III Pro). This may change in the future.

Hello Kal.
Any updates on this? Does ChromaPure currently support the retail version of i1 Display Pro (EO Display 3)?

Thank you!

It does not. This is unfortunately X-Rite's choice (the manufacturer). Not ours. We'd very much like to support the retail version. The OEM version is supported. It's the same meter, but simply does not come in a fancy box or X-Rite software.

For a complete list of supported meters see our ChromaPure order page here:

Thanks Kal.

Rest assure I know this is a decision of X-Rite.

Anyway I know I have the option to buy the bundle with one OEM i1 Display Pro with ChromaPure, in order to use them.

Thank you

The new HCFR fork project supports that meter with with the latest version I believe. Have a look at the sourceforge link here http://sourceforge.net/p/hcfr/wiki/Home/

Hope it works out or you.

I am looking into all the options myself and with the new firmware for the Lumagen I am leaning towards Calman 5 Enthusiast with the Display Pro.

July 2013 Update:

ChromaPure now supports the retail (boxed) versions of the X-Rite Display 3 colorimeter (aka i1 Display Pro III). It is available through Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and other retail locations and includes X-Rite's i1 Profiler software meant for PC/Mac monitor calibration.

Existing ChromaPure users may download the latest 2.4.2 version from our ChromaPure order page here:
