On my Barco 1208, the blue raster is very far to the right, when it is configured for table mount. In ceiling configuration it is still off but at least possible to converge, applying excessive toe-in and tweaking with the raster shift. But in table configuration there is no raster shift that doesn't cause either the blue or the red+green rasters to partially miss the phosphor.
Any ideas what this can be?

Thank you for all the suggestions! The raster doesn't move the slightest when changing electrical focus and I doubt that the tube has been replaced. The projector only had some 1000 hrs on it when I acquired it.
So afraid of ruining a good factory setup I wanted to skip to part 2 of your guide. Unfortunately, my unit doesn't look like the 808 you are linking to. As another source I have the service manual for the 1209 - since I am an electronics engineer it has given me lots of insights but the deflection board is obviously different here too. More specifically, I can't find the R/B H shift pots on my board.
I have attached pictures of my set of boards seen from two angles. Since they aren't labelled (how can that be, really?) I don't want to presuppose which one is the H deflection board.

Sorry, that doesn't help me. I can't identify neither the focus board nor the H-shift pot in my machine. I have tried turning every pot that is accessible when the boards are inserted, and the only one I have been able to identify is the V size pot.

That is not very good way of doing adjustments, that could cause serious problems. Hope you doesn't turn +17V pot from smps. Check that it is 17.5V...
Your picture doesn't show focus/Hsift board that is nearest to left edge when looking table mounted projector from back.
It's similar than in 808s, but it's covered with board. There is hole for two multiturn pots. You probably need to turn those few turns to move raster enough.
Vertical raster sift pots can be seen from your picture.

Haha, I am obscenely fond of reading manuals - the problem here is simply obtaining them. I don't have a service manual for the 1208 and the user and installation manuals don't get into such detail.
People on message boards sharing their knowledge are a lovely substitute! I myself would never say that there's too MUCH helpfulnes on message boards. I would admit, though, that I could have had the curiosity to look behind the cover board myself and see the similarity with the 808 board on Curt's guide.
Anyways, all's well that ends well. I have now centered the raster successfully. And no, I didn't turn every pot, just the red/blue marked ones. I exaggerated a bit to get your attention. Guess it worked!
