Is it possible to swap the IR eye on the barcos with one that can recieve signals from a universal remote?

Anyone tried this? To use a harmony to operate the barco 808s would be nice.

No, it's not just the IR, the controller board would need to be changed as well.

Why won't the Harmony work? THe $10 learning universal remotes work here for me, you'd think that a $200 Harmony would work..

They work with the BG808S?
I have not been able to make any sort of contact from the harmony.

Hi,

I can imagine that the emulation of a Barco remote isn't too easy for some universal remotes. After all it's based on a very old and obsolete chipset, the SAA1250/1251 (see: http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/86798/ETC/SAA1250.html). It uses a propietary protocol (nothing common like the RC5 protocol) and maybe an unusual carrier frequency too.
