1280 1024@ 60hz =great picture at 63.98 khz , 1027 768 @85 hz=beter picture at 68.68khz , 1600 1200 @60hz= a little soft in text at 75 khz 1920 1080 @60 hz= a little soft like 1600 but khz is lower @67.19khz . so question is why is 1027 so crisp at a higher khz than 1080 ? and im using most of the crt face so?

Your actual resolution is not limited by the projector's bandwidth, but by the tube resolution.
1024x768 only uses 768 vertical lines in 4:3 AR (from the aspect of line distance this is the same as 576p HD), same for the 1280x1024 is the same from the aspect of line distance on tube as 720p. But 1920x1080 would equal with 1920x1440 (4:3 AR) in line distance on the tube face, that's why it is looks soft

Tubes resolution is usually bigger bottle neck than electronics BW in crp projectors. 768p have half smaller horizontal and 300 lines smaller vertical resolution than 1080p, so crt draws bigger "pixels" and bigger gaps between those.
That small resolution with G90 also add false sharpness effect, because scanlines are seen. It's not true sharpness when you have black grid over picture.
With 1080p horizontal lines could be overlapping and there aren't any kind scanlines seen. Overlapping depends about crt's spot size, so fresh tubes, good electronic focus- and astig adjustments can make spot much sharper.

thanks for reply, i sharpened it up a bit, can see scan lines up close in 1080p now ,if i go any higher they overlap.like 1920 1200, or 2500 1500 .so i'll use 1080p for games and movies and 1027 for reading online.
