i cant seem to find the process to bring up video and adjust zones with Avia disk. the unit switches to its internal pattern when i go to adjust zones.....

press the Pattern button a couple times and it will toggle through the various internal patterns then an overlay pattern (internal + your source) followed by only your source video/pattern.

thanks! thats just what i was looking for. maybe i wasnt getting it because i wasnt in service mode? im using a blu-ray player with this pj as apossed to my htpc. is it normal for the projected image position to vary from disk to disk? mostly its centering on the screen? and these dashed lines pop up at the top of the image and they will sometimes go away just by calling up a menu and exiting out, or i may have to block it out. pretty annoying!

No not that I'm aware.
The image may slowly drift as the PJ heats up. Once the temp stabilizes it shouldn't move.
