I'm very new to the G90, have it sitting on table projecting onto wall right now. Just love the picture, clear, great colour. When the room is finished, maybe this fall, it will be mounted on the ceiling.

The reason I'm posting is that I powered up the unit last night and noticed that the wording on the warm-up screen are jumping around, like jumping jacks, like side to side. When the warm-up is finished, the picture is fine, but if I push menu button, again the words on display are again jumping around....

Has anyone had the problem before, and what do I need to do to fix this ???

Do you have brightness and contrast control? If not this could be indicative of the dreaded IC241 failure on the YA board. If you do then perhaps its trying to sync to a non existent signal. Also check to make sure you set sync to H/C (I think that's correct as its been a while since I made a change there) not Auto in the service menu.

yes I have full control of both, brightness and cotrast. I don't know, what the sync should be set to ? I'm running from Satl [HDMI} into VP50 [HDMI ] and output HDMI into Sony IFB card. There are 4 setting for the sync in the Vp 50 [ H+ V+], [H- V-], [H+ V-] and [H- V-] what should I set this to ?

How would I set the sync in the G90 ? How do I check what the setting is right now ?

Good news for you that its not a YA board failure. Next thing to check is the CLAMP setting. Go into the service menu ENTER>ENTER>UP>DOWN>ENTER. Scroll through the menu to 3rd page I think. Default CLAMP setting is AUTO. Select H/C. See what that does to the image.

I tried that, can't select clamp, it is not selectable. Was able to select sync sel and that is set to H/V allready.

Last night when I turned the unit off, I also shut off the main power switch for the night. This morning when started it up,I noticed that display lettering was stable for about 20 seconds and then it starting jumping around.

Also I have had the Dallas chip changed about 4 months ago, but every thing was good until just last week.

That's odd. Is RGB selected for that input? There should be 3 options to choose from under the CLAMP setting.

Btw I don't recommend using the warm up screen. It puts too much wear on those tubes and is unnecessary. Retubing costs are very high. I usually turn the pj on 10-15 mins before I intend to watch anything. That gets the electronics near operating temp and its fairly stable after that.

What happens when you feed a signal from your primary source through the IFB card? Have you tried INPUT A with an RGBHV video feed. Same problem?

I have the lastest sony IfB card installed and feeding it from VP50. If I select Hdmi out of the VP, what should the pj be set to ? I think I have Input C of the pj set to HDTV GBR, is this correct ?

I'll try to feed RGBHV next and disconnect the HDMI to the IFB card and see what happens.

Well that fixed the problem..... The first thing I did was removed all input to the projector. Then powered it up using the remote and everything looked normal.....no jumping around of the display screen. While the prjector was running I plug the HDMI back into the Sony IFB card..... got normal video screen....next I pushed the test pattern button....again everything is normal.....now push menu button and everything here is normal as well.

Great everything back to normal............ THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.........HaydnG90.......
