Has anyone in the USA bought a Blu-ray player off of Amazon UK and had it successfully shipped to them directly in the United States?
Several interested BD titles are being offered in Region B/2, but not A/1. Looking at Amazon.co.uk, I see some rather inexpensive entry-level players, but did not know if ordered I might run into trouble getting the product through the Port Authority.

Hmm, a $70 pound ($100) player from the UK or buy a $500 Oppo and a $70 mod by voiding Oppo warranty.
$100 vs. $570
Decisions, decisions

Umm, I've actually been watching some places and used 83's were going for above $300. But, as you suggest I figured a $100 experiment can't be all that bad. But what happens if it doesn't get through the PA?
I also thought about finding a forum member in the UK, using their home addy as an additional mailing address on the Amex, and then placing an order for it to be shipped there. I just did not know if personal shipments UK-USA would be any better.

Ok, so I bought one of the Insignia NS-BRDVD4 refurbished players from ePrey. I got the unit today, and sure enough it a) wouldn't player the Region-B Mulholland Drive BD, and b) could not get into the mystery Configure Player menu. Using a link to download an older firmware from late last year, I burned it to disk, flashed the player's firmware, and presto, I'm in the Configure Player menu! In here I can configure both the DVD and BD region codes.
I am also able to play the Region-B Mulholland Drive BD. I'm so giddy with myself in the $58.99 delivered endeavor that I just ordered two more of them (stockpiling). Sticking it to the [Sony] man!

There is actually a free download that you can use that will allow to watch region free, only catch is you have to load it before each usage with another region disk, which would be fine if it is only occasionally.
