Each a pj I just acquired. Yay.
Does the 8000 (indeed any Marquee) have a battery like PC motherboards do for BIOS settings retention? On this 8000, every time I turn it off, whether I unplug it or not, the convergence disappears completely. I have to restart it from scratch every time I turn it on. Plus, I can't figure out how to "store the values into a memory." It's not straghtforward and nowhere in the help pages can I figure out how to.
Does the 8000 or 8500 have rings on the magnets for manual focusing? I see they have them electronically but I just can't get that red to get thin in the corners, and yes, I use the mechanical focus of the front lenses, too.
Thanks.

Yes, large battery (orange) on the CLM (psst, look at the main site in the tech tips section, it's all laid out for you there <grin>)
THose aren't focusing rings, those are astig rings on the tube necks. Don't mess with those. If your focus is good in the middle but bad on the sides and vice versa when you you get the edge focusing OK, then you probably have a bad channel on the focus board. If it's just the corners, then yes, making sure the astig is 100% will help, but lack of astig on the 8000 and 8110 is why the 8500 was far more popular than the other two models.
Take the best tubes and put them in the 8500 is my advice. Check the filament voltage, etc.

The channel your on is probly locked or the ASR is turned on. I have a guide which covers basic set-up if you PM me your e-mail

Thanks. | probably the Scheimphlug is off (lens flapping) or like Curt said a bad channel on the focus board. Don't bother with the 8000, the 8500 is where it's at.

BTW Dave, what did you wind up doing with that ancient 9000 and the The custom Panasonic tubes with Thompson pin-out's?

As the plan stands, the 9" tubes are going into the 8500.

I would try one tube and see if it powers up properly. If the tube comes on full-blast with no G2 control be ready to pull that P14 connector on the motherboard to slowly discharge emission.
