Will turning on black boost and range expand on a moome card result in less tube wear at a given brightness and contrast then not enabling it?
The picture appears quite a bit brighter with the black boost and range expand on so I think the tubes will wear the same as if the brightness and contrast were turned up. Just looking for verification.

Black boost/gamma correction turned up will wear the tubes faster at the same brightness/contrast. BUT using gamma correction should let you turn down both brightness and contrast and still be able to see details in dark parts of the picture.

Use the opening scene to Alien when the nostromo passes by the camera. The place to check gamma is right when the engines get near the center of the screen as you can see the detail in the dark parts of the ship fade in and out as you mess with the black boost. If you don't have Alien... shame on you.

I have a GAMMA X, and i must say, i dont like it at all... I noticed it seems to boost the brighter parts as well as the lower parts in some instances. I can get a perfectly good black detail without using the GAMMA X by adjusting the KELVIN settings in connection with the brightness and contrast.

Dont know what projector you have though, mine is an NEC.

I have a nec xg1352lc. My moome external has black boost and range expand and I have been playing with the crt more than watching lately!

I send the moome external 4:2:2 should I send it rgb?

I found the 16-235 looked alot better for me. When youre watching blurays or DVDs, they are in 16-235 anyway.

No worries. I found it to be quite hard to get really good picture with the setting on 0-255 setting.
