Got a new 8500 (and an 8000) for my home theater and contrary to sellers comments, it is not flawless. <sigh>

1. the blue will not converge side-to-side in the zones during setup. Up-down does, but side-to-side won't even move. I'm told via phone that that is the convergence board, and probably a single resistor but not which resistor. board number is: 03-270330-01P, and 50-2230-01P.

2. what appears to be a really common failure mode, intermittent H. fail led lights up and picture cuts out for a bit. Usually it will come back on shortly. I don't want to turn it back on until I can get that resolved.

Any help would be appreciated in getting this guy to working so I can install my 9 inch tubes into it.

Thanks!

Reseat all your boards first as during shipping they may have lost contact within the connectors.

Also make sure the Horizontal Deflection Coil wires from the HDM to the Coils are wired correctly.
Red to red, blue to blue etc. Do the same with the Convergence wires and the Vertical Deflection Connectors.

Then report back to see if anything changes.

Check the connections from the upper motherboard to the backplane. This solves that issue with my 8500.

cheers

solder u1-u7 and u33 straight on the board, this might solve a lot of problems too.
