My guess is that PSI reset the hour meter... don't knock PSI. THey sold lots of good projectors, and I believe the issues came up mainly when they sold the company and moved it to St Louis. I know the one techy that moved to Mn left the company very quickly, and as we all know, without tech support, it's a nightmare to own a CRT.
Eric of PSI knew his stuff, at least in the conversations I had with him.

This thing stinks of fraud. The picture sez "Electrohome", the last Ehome-built Ultra I had through here was built in 2000 with a 32xxxxxxx serial number.
Electrohome put 160 hours on each machine during assembly.

Electrohome put 160 hours on each machine during assembly.. | I am 99% sure there's nothing fraudulent there Tim except the hour counter which PSI reset as Curt stated.
The Ultra's came out in 1998 with V4.2 sfotware, so it's an E-home built machine just prior to Christy I believe. The problem with the later machines PSI sold was they had more than a few Frankenstyne machines with all kinds of parts thrown in from 8000's and such. I have a hard time accepting anything with an 8000 video chain being called "reference" even 5 years ago but hey they had a great web-site.

Anyway after sitting for 6 years with the original bellows it will be intersting to see if the buyer winds up here with questions like "there's some wet-stuff dripping from around the lenses".

I have had some PSI sold sets (well, boards thereof) in recently that were things like 8000s relabeled as 8500s (late model back heatsink c/w astig output board, but a CLM of an 8000 with no astig daughterboard.) I think Dragan's right, as the company wrapped up after the sale, projectors were thrown together to create cash flow...
If that set was sold between 2000 and about 2003, it should be as stated.. let's hope. It went for surprisingly a lot of money considering it's from a non techy person selling something as is.

I got the impression from the ebay listing that he bought the projector and then sent it to PSI for upgrades and a paint job. If that's the case, it may well have been a clean low hour ultra to begin with.
Still, I wasn't going to pay more than $1,900 to find out the real story...

If you look at the auction history The "winning bidder" was either a fraud or maybe even the owner schilling his own auction. Anyone who thinks they're going to get back $3400. they paid PSI 6 years ago is in for a cold reality check.
