|
|
After spending another $350 on repairs for my G70VR after two weeks finally getting it into place and hooking up the audio I got an error 35 today. The same error I got a year and a half ago when I sent my boards in to Curt.* At last the circle is complete. I was glad I got to see it in action for 10 months. What a beautiful picture.
But I think its time to bail. Its going to take another $250 to get it going & my new place just isn't appropriate for a projector of this size.
I don't think I can sell it in this state. So where and how is the best way to part out a projector.
Here? Videogon? AVS forum?
How do you price it? Half of Niktech?
*Who did a great job repairing them.

You can "price it" however you want, but if you want to actually SELL it, I'd start it at "very reasonable" then go down from there ....

I'm interested in the HD-134 lenses, PM me a price once you decide how much you want.
I might also be interested in the G,B tubes depending on condition and price.

You and everyone else! I PM'ed him a month or so ago and asked for a shot at those lenses... Of course, I still may not be first in line, and I don't know if I'll want to pay what they're worth since I'm pretty happy with my machine as-is.
12 Cheers,
SC

You can have first dibs, I'm probably to frugal to justify the cost anyway.

For in demand parts such as lenses, tubes (assuming good condition), I'd personally post on Ebay and let the auction format decide value unless you already have a good idea of value. In general and this is just my experience Ebay usually nets me the best price as compared to Curt's site and Videogon though I have also done ok at times through Curt's site. Never sold anything through videogon though I have listed there a number of times. For the lesser parts unless you want to hold on to them for a while I'd say maybe 1/4 of Niktech's price. I think he is pretty darn high. He is pricing for somebody who needs something now and isn't willing to search/wait (at least based on what he charges for Barco parts).

I will give you first dibs on the lenses ecrabb as I got your PM. In spite of all I've invested in repairs I am still contemplating sending the cards in to Curt. Someone should own this projector even at a financial wash. But my mind changes from minute to minute. When it failed on my I set up my newly minty blue tubed 1271 and it was slightly painful to go back as perfect as I thought my 1271 was before I owned the G70. Why I would want to throw still more money at this projector when my too small rooms with white walls kill all the truly perfect blacks I used to have in my theater is beyond me. I am hoping to come to my senses soon. I am still in shock from the failure of this still awesome projector. I have contemplated trading both projectors for a basic Ipad 2.
In response to the blue and green tube the blue and green minty to the eye when I got it. I got about eight months of use before the first failure. I haven't taken the lenses off but I detect some noticeable yellowing in the center since I first ran it. When I did run it there was more pink in the 16:9 area than in the totally unworn area. But otherwise imperceptible. If I were to guess blindly the tubes are 9 for the green, 8.5 for the blue. Only photos of the tubes will tell.
I emphasize I am not currently selling this unit or its parts. I am still coping with the loss and am just seeking advice on where to part it out and how to price it if that is even an option. Its possible there are no good options.

Its possible I have an extra "D" board. If I do its yours affordably and I will PM you. I have many extra boards and it would please me greatly to help someone get their G70 projector running. Same goes for anyone else in need of a board. I tried offering these to Curt for free more than once because I felt I owed him still for some expensive blown transistors which he took in labor and room and board but he seems to have a surplus or is just not interested.
Thank you VERY much for the advice.
