|
|
I just got a pair of Moome's new EXT V3 to replace my older versions, but can't get them to work at all!
I am getting a scrambled mess with what looks like 4 separate images from left to right. I read his instructions and assumed it probably has something to do with the horizontal phase. I tried that adjustment by switching pin 5 of the minidip switch and holding down the "sel" button. As soon as it started, I lost sync.
Could it be that I need to disable some 3D function or something?
Lost,
Bob

What projector is it connected to? If it's a BArco, you need to change the RGB output to negative sync by removing two jumpers.

Nec XG's.
I first thought I had a bad Moome box, but neither of the two new ones work, so that is improbable.
Thanks,
Bob

I've been playing with and and found there is a difference between the V2 that works and the V3 that doesn't work.
When I plug in the HDMI cable to the V2, The link status LED turns on to green and then in a couple seconds turns to red.
When I plug in the HDMI to the V3, the link status LED turns on to green and stays green.
Moome's specs say that Green indicates input source on and "orange" indicates input source selected and active, for whatever that means.
Wish I had a couple of latest generation HDFury's!

Bob it's possible that your new Moome V3 External is Set by defult to A different Sync polarity compared to your older moome cards,
if this is the case then the picture could look like you discribe above.. I think I'v read that the NECs like A curtan H/V Sync polarity...
Looking at Moomes V3 notes it mentions something about Polarity jumper selection
9, Output H, V sync polarity selection jumper
If you reinstall one of your old Moome cards & bring up the Menu for Input signal type on the XG note the H/V Sync Polarity
Then reconnect the New Moome V3 to ensure it is outputing the Same Sync Polarity to the XG's as the Above..
If its not then you need to set the jumper pins for Correct H/V polarity..
Jase..

Thanks. I've already checked that and the jumpers were identical to the V3 that works fine.
I have been doing some searching and found that many people are having problems with the V3.
Thanks,
Bob

Well, I received a response back from Moome where he suggested I reset the H phase, so I reset it exactly as he described.
I now have two images, and the horizontal frequency readout on my XG is exactly 1/2 of what it shout be. Just to check, I changed the output of my TVone from 1064X1080@72Hz to a conventional 1920X1080@60Hz, and it works fine!!!
Remember that my older EXT V2 works fine, and has for several years!
THIS SUCKS!!!

I am going to give Moome until Monday morning to try and get this working.
If not - Is there anyone willing to even swap their EXT V2 for a NIB EXT V3? I could ship it as early as next Monday.
Thanks,
Bob

Say Bob
Double images horizontally means every other H sync pulse is missing. Try nulling the projector and/or TVOne H phase settings and then adjust the moome.

Bob sorry to go on About it,
But just so I understand, The New Moome V3 Ext card's Jumper pins have been set to Negative H/V Sync ?
and the Projectors Report Sync polarity as H-/V-..
From Moomes Site ( NEC PG projector, NEC XG projector, BARCO 808 1209 909 projector (need negative sync)
Maybe the Sync polarity in your TV-Ones (H-/V-)..

Jase,
Actually the XG's will accept + sync just fine. I have tried changing polarity with no luck.
I have also checked the pin positions on the V3, and they are exactly the same as the V2 which works perfectly. Additionally, when I changed the output resolution on the TVOne to 1920X1080P@60Hz, it works perfectly.
I think the bottom line is that the V3 will not accept 1064X1080@72, even though I have a pair of V2's that work fine with it. I know it makes no sense, but that is what is happening.
What I should have done is sent one to Nash first to try it out because he is always willing to do anything!!!
Maybe it has something to do with the 3D capability of the V3?

I feel your pain Bob,
If The Moome V3 external cards does'nt support 1064x1080@72Hz then its likely an EDID issue with the New Moome V3's & would need to send back to Moome for EDID update or get Moome to send you the updated EDID chips..
Seems Strange because I would Assume Moome would use the Same EDID supported resolutions as the V2 Cards..
Because the V3 EDID supports 3D maybe 3D messed up the 2D EDID as you point out..

Jase,
I agree with your EDID resolution issue.
Moome must be busy as he hasn't responded to my last e-mail.
I also can't believe that I haven't heard from anyone who would be interested in an even swap from V2 to V3?

I can't. The Moome's are being used only as D/A converters.
When I originally built the blend, my signal chain was:
Source(s) = VP50Pro = HDMI Splitter = (2) TVONe's = (2) XG's using the analog outputs of the TVone's. Everything worked fine, except I needed to add separate cms/grayscale for each projector, so I bought a pair of VideoEq's as soon as they came out. I reconfigured my signal chain to:
Source(s) = VP50Pro = HDMI Splitter = (2) VideoEqs = (2) TVOnes = (2) XG's via analog.
While this should have worked, it would not pass video as there is some sort of incompatibility between the VideoEq's and the TVOne's, so I reconfigured it this way:
Source(s) = VP50Pro = HDMI Splitter = (2) TVOne's = (2) VideoEq's = (2) Moome EXT's = (2) XG's. Everything has worked just fine with no problems for quite some time. I needed the Moome's because the VideoEq's have only a digital output. Remember - I use HD-SDI, so I don't have HDCP issues.
Yes - It would probably work just fine if I were to change to Moome's XG input cards on my XG's, but getting HDMI cables to my projectors now is a MAJOR undertaking. Especially considering that the V3's should work!!!

YEAH!!!! I got it working, thanks to Athanasios' comments.
When I described why I needed the Moome EXT's because of the incompatibility between the TVOne's and the VideoEq's I remembered that this was when I had the original firmware in the TVOne's. I have installed several upgrades since then but never thought to check if any of them solved that problem.
So, I put the VideoEq's before the TVOne's and just used the analog outputs from the TVOne's and it works perfectly!
I now don't need any Moome boxes at all.
Thanks Nash,
Bob
