hi everyone, i have a sony vph1042q for a while, and i have been always set it up with a dvd player through s video input. now, i have a cable got a VGA on one end, and the other end with 5 BNC connectors which enable me to set it up with my desk top computer. i tried last night, but it seems couldn't cope with hi definition settings, it shows about 3 very narrow pictures on screen, even i went to the lowest setting to 8xx X 10XX (i forgot a actual numbers), it can show one full picture, but been cut in half and put them back together the other way around, what i mean is the normal left side of the picture has gone to the middle of screen, the normal middle part gone to the right, and the normal right part has gone to the left on the screen.

could anyone tell me is just this vph1042q model can't even accept the lowest display setting for now days computers or i didn't set it up properly?

thanks

Michael

The highest resolution that the 1042Q will accept is 480i. Anything higher than that and you risk losing the magic smoke.

Of the Sony VPH-10XX series, I think the 1031 is the only one that will go any higher (540P or 1080i).

I remember way back when a member at AVS tweaked the hell out of a 1031Q and got it to run @ 540P. That was a big deal back then Surprised

I started with a 1031Q and was able to get it to display 540P quite nicely, but it wouldn't sync to 1080i. I've kinda in a holding pattern right now. Too lazy to install and calibrate my XG75, just barely satisfied with the 1272 that's currently hanging.

PAL 720x576i @ 25Hz is the most it will do.
