I have a Nec XG 1350 with the scrambled mess issue. Whats the best way to go about getting this fixed? Has Curt had any luck in getting these system boards repaired?

Elaine Benes on this forum had a 6pg Extra (IIRC) with scrambled mess. I replaced most of the electrolytic caps on the system board and it apparently MOSTLY worked. It went from being unusable to taking a few minutes to warm up and lock on the signal... You could give that a shot...

Was it all or nothing when it went into the mess or have you had it act up on occasion and now it doesn't,t come out of it?
My 1351lc has started working again after sitting for awhile unplugged. Mine wouldn't,t lock onto a signal and would display the "mess" only to start working again.
I,ll assume you have cleaned all board contacts and reinserted them a few times to eliminate this area.
Does the AC line you have it plugged into share anything else that Might contain another poluting power supply device such as computers or anything with severe spikes of any kind?
Does it display any menus at all?
Have we all concluded that this problem comes from the system board or another board with an oscillator circuit instead?

A while back I spent a large amount of time investigating this issue involving the system board on both the PG and XG series.
A failure of either not locking to a signal or scrambled image on PG series has been noted as being caused by either the system board or deflection board, mostly being the system board.
On the XG series it has been noted as system board or osc board but again mostly the system board.
I had only investigated the system board and had mostly success with the PG series, that info which I turned over to Curt.
On the XG series I was making great success when i had a deflection board failure and at the time there didn't seem to be much interest in a solution anyways so I just pushed everything off to the side. I also discussed those findings with Curt.
I'm not sure what he is doing with these boards currently so I don't feel I should openly discuss what my findings were unless he indicates so.
I do believe I had the culprits identified as I definitely had the location identified and could make the problem appear and disappear at will.
Just never finished the confirmation.
