I am trying to test out my tube work by running the PJ with a computer, I have a nVidia Quadro 510s (7900GTX in mobile form), and I have the nVidia control panel..
When I run any resolution with the projector (at least using this laptop) I cannot get it to throw an image that doesnt roll or is seriously distorted. I have tried multiple resolutions and multiple refresh rates but nothing to avail...
Also on certain resolutions the projector will lock onto it and then shut down a few seconds later and produce error code FC which the manual says is +15v Off ... I have no idea what that means, and assume it means power off...?
Now I used the PJ with another laptop yesterday (that I no longer have) and it projected the image as it should just by auto detection on the laptop... on my laptop this doesn't seem to be the case :\
Any ideas? I wouldnt be surprised if it was just my source (the laptop) but at the moment I have nothing close to connect to the projector so this is what I am trying to use...

Lets start with the basics...Grab a DVD player or VCR and connect either the composite or SVideo connection to NEC and see if you get a stable image. If you don't there is problem with the projector.

it's a synch issue...your laptop may be doing combined synch...or positive synch...or something the NEC doesn't like.
What are the synch values? Combined? positive? Negative?

I honestly dont know what the sync values are, I dont have lenses on the projector yet and the letters on the tubes are too bright and small for me to really look at :\
When I plugged a DVD player into it via composite, it didnt display on the projector...
this is why I don't have it setup again for use, I want to make sure it is ready to go.

Jeremy, If your laptop works the same as mine, there are 3 output modes that you can cycle through by hitting a function key (sometimes FN+F4).
1, the laptop screen only
2, the VGA output only,
3, both
You may be able to enter the desired mode via the app software for the video card rather if the function key method doesn't work.
I've seen the unstable display issue go away if you switch from BOTH to VGA only. Maybe because in BOTH mode the resolution is stuck with something that works for the laptop screen.
On the topic of using the DVD player composite, remember you need to hit button 2 or 3 on the remote to engage the S-video or composite inputs.

Jerry, thanks for the tip, the laptop wasnt displaying correctly because I had the horizontal and vertical sync wires backwards... oops :\
As for the composite S-Video thanks for the tip, I've not had a use for it so I didnt try learning it lol..

Its ok, I'm willing to accept fault of my own I'm glad its working too, I have spent several hours on the new green tube to get it nice and sharp again, its coming along good. I think the cracking of the old one could have been a fault of my own... oh well.. lesson learned!
