I am adding 9" tubes to a BG808s and I have two solutions. One is a non lens flapping Barco solution similar to the 1200 series and the other is a Ampro lens flapping solution. I am not sure which to use or if one is actually better than the other anyway. The Ampro LC solution much bigger physically than the Barco but allows for the removal and replacement of individual tubes for example. I am leaning towards the Barco solution because its simple but before I do I thought I would see what others might do. Any thoughts.

Use late style 1209S housings and the front section of a 1209 to mount them - some ingenious
fellow in europe has already done it. - In general - without flapping you will never get good focus
on edges/corners especially on red and blue - the effort is hardly worthwhile without it, imho
Also be advised that tube orientation is 180 degrees off from 8" to 9" in respect to pinouts
on VNB for Barco

I have Sony tubes so I think that limits my choice of LC tank to Ampro or Sony 1292 For lens flapping.

The alternative option could be to separate chassis, one for tubes and the other for boards.

sony tubes also fit in marquee lc Housing
split pack is a good idea I did that when I put 9" tubes in my 808 retroblock

I thought marquee use MEC tubes and they have a different tube face shape to Sony.

yes it has but lc chamber is large enough so that the tube fits
it is just silicone on the front of the glass
