Have spent at least 100 hours trying to figure this out, even bought a new video card.

Switched from an Nvidia 8400GS to an ATI 4650 and have been trying to get it to work at a 1080 resolution with film refresh rate. IE: 1080i@72/96hz or 1080p@48hz.

Working on Win7 64-bit.

Have tried catalyst 11.1 and 11.2

Tried both using the card's VGA port and using the DVI port with a VGA adapter.

Created a custom monitor driver with powerstrip with max resolution of 1920x1080, 135khz horizontal, 155hz vertical.

Using CCC I can get 1080i60hz and 1080p72hz to display. 72hz is just a bit too blurry for me, and I would much rather deal with the flicker of 48hz. I can only get 1080 to display using the DVI port.

Powerstrip would launch when using the VGA port, but I couldn't get any 1080 resolutions to work with that port. Powerstrip causes the screen to go blank every time it loads when using the DVI port. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling powerstrip to no avail.

I read that putting the card in interlaced mode before launching powerstrip should enable powerstrip to set an interlaced resolution, but I just get a blank screen now everytime powerstrip loads.

1080i@60hz displays perfectly from my xbox 360 connected via BNC through an rtc-2200, but will usually display two identical pictures side-by-side with large scanlines. Switching the input on the barco from port 5 to port 4 for 5 seconds then switching back solves the problem and it then displays normal from that point on.

I have tried many many more things as well, too many to list. Hopefully someone has been where I am and can offer some sound advice. I will solve this issue eventually if it kills me. If it can't be solved, one of us is going to die, me or the barco.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Got it working, 1080i@96hz.

Life is good. It was a quirky combination of switching resolutions from 720p to 1080i60, changing to a different version of powerstrip. And in the end I'm really not sure what the magic combination was, but it worked.

Good to hear that you got it working.

These 96Hz timings seem to work best with my BG808s.

Big enough porches to prevent raster ringing. (=Vertical or horizontal bars at left or top edge)
Smooth 24p playback, because of accurate 4 x 23.976 = 95.904 Hz refresh rate. Power strip shows only half of that with interlaced resolutions.
